Antique Chinese Room Size Wool Blue Navy Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exquisite example of early 20th-century weaving showcases the refined elegance characteristic of Chinese production during this period. The use of a generous scale defines it as a true room size rugs suitable for grand interiors. The rug's primary appeal lies in its dramatic coloration. A saturated, near-black navy field provides a rich foundation, allowing the stylized golden motifs to float vividly above the pile. This striking combination emphasizes the depth and luxurious texture inherent in blue color rugs. The design features an all-over trellis of blossoming vines and stylized floral medallions, rendered in a warm, contrasting ochre. While the layout is traditional, the bold contrast and slightly simplified forms hint at the burgeoning Art Deco influence that would soon define many antique rugs from the region.
