Antique Chinese Pillar Carpet Yellow Hallway Runner Rug, Circa Date: 1750s. This extraordinary example of 18th-century weaving represents a highly specialized form of Imperial textile art, designed specifically to adorn the columns of a palace or temple. Such pieces are exceedingly rare, offering a profound glimpse into the ceremonial function of antique rugs within the Qing court. The palette is dominated by the vibrant, saturated Imperial Yellow, a color strictly reserved for the Emperor's use during the Qianlong period. Against this luminous ground, a powerful, sinuous dragon ascends, rendered in a striking, deep indigo blue. The combination of these hues emphasizes the divine authority of the creature, a characteristic feature found in the finest yellow color rugs from this era.
