Antique Chinese - Peking Room Size Wool Rug, Country of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional example of early 20th-century weaving presents the restrained elegance characteristic of peking rugs. The design utilizes a spacious, open field, allowing the deep, saturated color palette to convey immediate visual weight and sophistication. The primary field is rendered in a rich, warm chocolate brown, a grounding hue that beautifully contrasts with the delicate, naturalistic floral motifs scattered throughout the center. These blossoms—rendered in soft creams, light blues, and beige—are stylized yet organic, reflecting the subtle influence of Western Art Deco sensibilities on traditional Chinese iconography. As a true room size rug, this piece is perfectly scaled to anchor a formal living space or dining area, providing both comfort and historical context.
