Antique Chinese - Peking Room Size Blue Rug, Country of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional example of peking rugs represents the refined aesthetic prevalent during the late Qing Dynasty. Woven in China around the turn of the 20th century, the design emphasizes spaciousness and symbolic clarity, hallmarks of the finest court-influenced textiles. The expansive central field is defined by a saturated, deep indigo blue color, providing a dramatic contrast to the sparse, golden-ochre motifs scattered across the surface. These delicate floating elements—vases, flower pots, and auspicious symbols—are carefully balanced around a central medallion depicting stylized Foo Dogs amidst clouds. The generous room size format ensures this piece commands attention in a sophisticated interior setting.
