Antique Chinese - Baotou Small Scatter Size Wool Red Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional Baotou weaving captures the refined aesthetic of early 20th-century Chinese textiles. Its vibrant field is rendered in a deep, saturated shade, placing it among our finest red color rugs. The central field features a sophisticated, naturalistic composition, eschewing a traditional medallion for a detailed scene of two stately cranes standing amidst lush floral rugs and foliage. These motifs, particularly the crane, are deeply symbolic in Chinese culture, representing longevity and good fortune. Woven with fine, durable wool, this piece exhibits the robust construction typical of Baotou production. Its specific dimensions categorize it as a small scatter size, perfect for adding a concentrated burst of color and history to an intimate space or entryway.
