Antique Chinese Allover Floral Blue 1920s Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional Chinese Art Deco piece captures the sophisticated aesthetic of the Republican era. The field is dominated by a luxurious, deep indigo, a hallmark of desirable blue color rugs from this period, providing a dramatic backdrop for the delicate, scattered motifs. The central design features a sparse, yet balanced, arrangement of stylized floral sprays and a central vase motif, lending the piece a refined, open quality. Such compositions were highly prized for their ability to anchor a spacious interior, making this a superb example of room size rugs intended for grand reception areas. A striking contrast is achieved by the broad, pale gold border, which frames the deep blue field with elegance.
