Antique Caucasian - Bidjov Small Scatter Size Wool Blue Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional Bidjov scatter piece, woven in the Caucasus region during the late 19th century, immediately captivates with its saturated indigo field. The masterful use of deep, rich blue color establishes a powerful foundation for the intricate design work typical of the region. The central medallion features highly stylized, ivory-ground elements that burst from the dark field, creating a striking visual contrast. These tribal motifs, which often represent abstracted fauna and ancient symbols, define the powerful aesthetic of geometric rugs from this mountainous weaving tradition. Hand-knotted with resilient, naturally dyed wool, this piece retains remarkable clarity and pile depth for its age.
