Antique N.W. Persian Persian Blue 1880s Blue Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional example of N.W. Persian weaving captures the robust, geometric aesthetic characteristic of the late 19th century. The deep, resonant field color, often referred to as Persian Blue, provides a powerful and sophisticated backdrop for the dense patterning. The structure of this piece confirms its utility as a specialized format, perfectly suited for grand staircases or extended corridors, classifying it among the finest examples of hallway runner rugs. The design utilizes a highly successful allover pattern composed of stylized cruciform elements and latch-hook medallions, creating a mesmerizing rhythm along the length of the carpet. The palette is rich and earthy, featuring terracotta, madder red, and subtle ochre accents, all derived from high-quality natural dyes.
