Antique Chinese Chinese - Art Deco Blue 1920s Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional piece exemplifies the transitional design period where traditional Chinese motifs were streamlined by the emerging Art Deco aesthetic. It is a superb example of antique rugs from the early 20th century, showcasing the dramatic shift toward bold color and open composition that defined the era. The composition is defined by its sophisticated and high-contrast palette, centered on a saturated indigo field. This deep, almost velvety shade of blue provides a striking backdrop to the vibrant, wide border rendered in rich magenta. Collectors seeking exceptional blue color rugs often gravitate toward the intense saturation and high-quality dyes found in 1920s Chinese production.
