Antique Besserabian Ukraine Flat Weave Rug, Circa Date: 1760s. This exceptional 18th-century Bessarabian flat weave exemplifies the transition from Baroque formality to the lighter, more graceful Rococo aesthetic. The expansive field is dominated by a luminous, aged hue, placing it among the most desirable gold yellow orange color rugs available today for period interiors. Unlike the dense, repeating geometric patterns often associated with Eastern weaving, this piece features scattered bouquets of stylized roses and small blossoms floating across the saffron ground. The central octagonal cartouche frames a more elaborate, vase-like arrangement, defining it as a quintessential example of floral rugs influenced heavily by contemporary French court designs and tapestries.
