Antique Walter Nichols Art Deco Room Size Wool Red Marvelous Rug

Antique Art Deco Room Size Wool Red Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This magnificent example of early 20th-century design captures the transitional aesthetic of the Art Deco movement, blending traditional Eastern iconography with modern geometric structure. It represents the finest quality of antique rugs produced during this highly experimental period. The central field is dominated by a saturated, luminous tone, a deep red that provides a striking backdrop for the meandering floral sprays. These naturalistic branches, rendered in soft yellows, greens, and pinks, float gracefully across the expansive red color rugs surface, contrasting the intensity of the ground hue. A bold, stepped geometric border in black and ochre frames the composition, providing the essential structural contrast typical of the Art Deco style.
