Antique Art Deco Room Size Wool - Manchester Dark Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional piece exemplifies the height of the Chinese Art Deco movement, offering a dramatic interpretation of traditional motifs. Its generous dimensions classify it perfectly among room size rugs, making it an ideal anchor for a sophisticated living space. The deeply saturated field of midnight indigo creates a striking contrast for the vibrant floral elements. This use of a dark, almost black, background is characteristic of the finest Manchester-style designs of the era. The rich depth of the main color places it among the most sought-after blue color rugs, providing a powerful foundation for the overall composition. A central medallion featuring the stylized Shou symbol of longevity anchors the design, surrounded by sprays of peony, plum blossom, and hanging lanterns.
