Antique Art Deco Room Size Wool Black Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional Chinese Art Deco example, woven during the height of the style's global influence, presents a dramatic and highly stylized composition. The aesthetic perfectly balances traditional Eastern iconography with the bold, minimalist sensibilities of the West, making it a highly desirable piece among antique rugs. The field is rendered in a deep, saturated black color rugs, providing a velvety, dramatic backdrop that absorbs light and intensifies the vibrancy of the central motifs. This masterful use of negative space is characteristic of the finest Chinese Art Deco production, allowing the mythological figures to appear suspended in space. Two magnificent Imperial dragons dominate the composition, rendered in warm gold and terracotta hues, accented by cool blue and pink details.
