Antique Art Deco Room Size Purple Wool Rug

Antique Art Deco Room Size Purple Wool Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional piece captures the transitional aesthetic of the early 20th century, blending traditional Chinese motifs with the bold color sensibilities of the Art Deco movement, making it a highly desirable example among antique rugs. The central field is rendered in a rich, dusty purple, deliberately left open to emphasize the scale and texture of the wool pile. This restraint is characteristic of the finest Art Deco weaving, allowing the dynamic border to frame the space without overwhelming the interior design. A striking seafoam green border provides a sharp, yet harmonious contrast to the field. This wide frame is densely populated with lush, trailing vines, stylized peonies, and delicate Chinoiserie elements, including architectural details and elaborate vases, all rendered in soft pinks, creams, and pale golds.
