Antique Art Deco Large Room Size Wool Red Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This magnificent example of early 20th-century weaving captures the transitional aesthetic of the Art Deco movement, blending traditional Chinese motifs with a bold, modern sensibility. The highly saturated field provides a dramatic backdrop for the sprawling botanical elements, characteristic of the finest antique rugs of the era. The central field is dominated by a rich, deeply dyed wool in a mesmerizing red hue. This striking color choice is beautifully offset by the wide, luminous border in a soft beige or taupe, creating a high-contrast composition typical of the period. The use of vibrant purples, pinks, and greens against the main color emphasizes the depth and luxurious texture inherent in red rugs.
