Antique American Square Rag Rug Room Size Wool, Country of Origin: American USA Rugs, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional square example of textile history originates from the late 19th-century domestic weaving tradition of the American USA Rugs. Woven primarily from reclaimed wool scraps, this piece embodies the resourcefulness and rustic charm characteristic of early American floor coverings. The composition features a horizontally banded structure, creating an allover design of subtle, striated color fields. The palette is remarkably restrained, utilizing muted tones of khaki, soft sage green, dusty rose, and pale ochre, lending the textile an inherent warmth and aged patina. As a genuine American Rag Rug, its construction technique—a flatweave utilizing warp and weft of varying thicknesses—provides a pleasingly uneven texture.
