Antique American Square Rag Rug America Knotted, Country of Origin: American USA Rugs, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional piece of textile history originates from the domestic weaving traditions of the American USA Rugs movement. Created during the late 19th century, this square rug embodies the resourcefulness and aesthetic sensibility of the period, utilizing recycled fabric scraps to create durable, functional floor coverings. The design is defined by a bold, horizontal striped motif, where varying widths of dark charcoal, soft rose, pale blue, and vibrant gold scraps are tightly knotted together. This composition results in a striking visual rhythm that covers the entire surface, placing it within the category of allover rugs despite its simple, geometric structure.
