Antique American Square Hooked Rug American Allover Knotted, Country of Origin: American USA Rugs, Circa Date: 1930s. This exceptional square textile exemplifies the unique folk-art tradition of American USA Rugs during the Depression era, blending traditional craft techniques with sophisticated, abstract design sensibilities. The central field features a densely hooked pile creating a mesmerizing, highly textured visual surface. The abstract, swirling composition utilizes a rich, muted palette of plums, deep browns, and charcoal, forming a complex allover pattern that defies conventional geometric structure. This organic movement gives the piece a distinctly modern, expressive quality. Contrasting sharply with the free-form field is the bold, graphic border.
