Antique American Hooked Small Scatter Size Wool Ivory Rug, Circa Date: 1935. This delightful piece represents the enduring tradition of American folk textile arts. Hooked rugs, often crafted domestically during the early 20th century, possess a unique texture and charmingly primitive execution, reflecting a period of transitional design. The dense wool pile provides a comforting, durable surface, characteristic of the technique. The field is executed in a warm, subtle ivory color, providing a gentle foundation for the highly stylized botanical motifs. These charming elements, rendered in muted tones of rose, rust, and pale blue, are outlined sharply in black, a defining feature that enhances the graphic quality typical of 1930s American textile design.
