Antique American Hooked Rug Hallway Runner Wool Multi, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional American hooked rug presents a vibrant, highly graphic interpretation of early 20th-century textile art, showcasing the domestic craftsmanship typical of the era. It stands as a compelling example among antique rugs that prioritize texture and bold, abstract design over traditional motifs. The field is dominated by a complex, interlocking grid pattern, reminiscent of a woven basket or parquet flooring. Each square within the grid is composed of densely packed, variegated wool strips, alternating between vertical and horizontal orientations to create a dynamic sense of movement and depth across the surface. A striking feature of this piece is its masterful use of color.
