Antique American Hooked Rug Hallway Runner Wool Black, Circa Date: 1920s. This remarkable piece is a testament to early 20th-century American textile craft. The dense wool pile and robust construction define this category of antique rugs. The folk art aesthetic, characterized by its spontaneous, narrative vignettes, makes this piece a unique historical document. The deep, saturated ground color provides a dramatic canvas for the vibrant scenes. This striking use of a near-black color background allows the individual motifs—including sailboats, stylized florals, and charming domestic architecture—to emerge with exceptional clarity. Given its elongated proportions, this textile is ideally suited as a sophisticated hallway runner rug.
