Antique American Hooked Hallway Runner Wool Multicolor Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This compelling piece represents the evolution of antique rugs in the early 20th century, moving from traditional Oriental imports to domestically crafted folk art. The specific technique identifies it as an American hooked rug, a style celebrated for its textural depth and unique, handcrafted aesthetic. The design is striking, contrasting a highly abstract field with a structured, decorative border. The central panel features vertical striations of color, creating a dynamic, almost kinetic visual effect. This is framed by a series of bold, stylized floral motifs and scrolling foliage, executed in warm, saturated hues. The palette is sophisticated, utilizing a foundation of deep olive and earthy browns in the background, which grounds the piece.
