Antique Agra Oversized Square Wool Blue Rug, Country of Origin: India, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional piece represents the height of late 19th-century weaving from the subcontinent, characterized by the grand scale and sophisticated design associated with Agra rugs. The field is dominated by a rich, saturated indigo ground, providing a dramatic backdrop for the sprawling, stylized floral motifs rendered primarily in contrasting ochre and ivory tones. This deep saturation places it among the finest examples of blue color rugs from the period, utilizing natural dyes to achieve enduring depth. Woven in the 1890s, this piece carries the gravitas of true age and historical significance, making it a valuable addition to any collection of antique rugs.
