Antique American 1920s Square Multicolor Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 73 x 80 inches (6'1" x 6'8"). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor. The design is a masterful interpretation of the classic patchwork technique, utilizing large, vertical rectangular blocks of solid color. The palette is intentionally varied, incorporating rich jewel tones alongside soft pastels and deep earth hues, creating a dynamic and complex visual field. This vibrant saturation and unique square format place the piece among the most desirable multicolor jewel tone textiles of the era.
