Allover Large Scale Arts and Crafts Pattern Antique Light Blue Color Big Persian Sultanabad Rug

$188,000.00

Antique Large Sultanabad Persian Geometric Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This magnificent example of a late 19th-century Persian weaving captures the grand aesthetic favored by European and American designers. Sultanabad carpets from this era are renowned for their robust construction and generous, stylized motifs, making them highly sought-after antique rugs. The commanding field is rendered in a rich, saturated indigo, providing a dramatic backdrop for the sprawling, oversized palmettes and vinery. The complex, all-over design utilizes soft ivory and ochre tones to define the intricate floral elements, creating a striking contrast against the deep ground. The use of blue color rugs in this period often symbolized depth and luxury, perfectly complementing the earthy tones of the border.
