Antique American 1920s Multicolor Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 67 x 81 inches (5'7" x 6'9"). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor. The surface is dominated by an intricate, repeating pattern—a true allover design—composed of tightly clustered medallions. Each oval frame encapsulates a detailed, sepia-toned pastoral scene reminiscent of French Toile de Jouy, richly bordered by lush, blooming roses. The palette features deep browns and saturated reds, creating a dramatic, saturated effect characteristic of multicolor jewel tone textiles.
